The 15 meter Catamaran, ‘Tulipa’ sailing into Curaco harbour on her maiden voyage across the atlantic.
The remit for this project was to build a 50ft Catamaran, from drawings to completion.
The work was carried out at ‘Mono and Multihull boatbuilders’ in Holland. The design was by Alexander Verhus.
One plug was used for both hulls, but two separate deck frames were used for each deck. The hull was moulded over the plug, filled and faired ready for its finished paint coat.
The decks were made with the same 25mm foam sandwich construction as the hull, however the laminates were lighter. The foam was laid over the deck frames and inside laminates were laid over. Once the laminates were dry the deck was removed from the frames, fitted to the decks and then the outer laminate skins were bonded over the foam and bonded directly to the hull.
