Shackleton, a multi-purpose rowing boat………… Sailing boat…………………
She was commissioned by a couple who are keen adventurers, when they have the time. She was built with the same specifications as the ocean rowing boats, but with all the extras they wanted. More storage bags and facilities. It made it a bit more cosy.
They wanted a small boat they could tow round behind a car to various rivers, lakes and coastal areas of Europe. After the success of the Philip Morris designed ocean rowing boats and their successful challenges, it was decided to customise one.
After careful discussion and planning, a gaff rig was added, as well as a small inboard engine. These options allowed them to sail and row, but use the engine to navigate small channels and make it easier to moor the boat.
